XR Leeds meet-up: apologies but we have to cancel our plans for the XR Leeds meeting/film night on Thursday 27th November at Imagine Leeds. There’s been a lot going on and our little group of coordinators is feeling the strain with potential burnout and flu bugs going round.

As an alternative, you’re invited to join us online for an informal listening circle-style meet up. Among the things we may cover are: the recent worrying development of violent far-right interference with peaceful protesters and what it might mean for NVDA moving forward, plus the outcomes of COP30 and a general opportunity to have a good old rant in a safe space, if that’s what you need!

Green Drinks Leeds: the date has been changed to Thursday 4 December, 17.30-20.00, at Imagine Leeds: the climate action hub, 9 Blenheim Terrace, Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9HZ.

Around 6.15pm we’ll be hearing from this month’s guest speaker Nick Hodgkinson, Chair of the Group for Action on Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA). Nick will give an update on their campaigns to stop LBA and all other airports from expanding. He will briefly outline GALBA’s legal challenges against LBA and against the government’s Jet Zero Strategy, with its focus on alternative aviation fuels. There will be time for a Q&A and discussion of the issues after the talk.

Feel free to bring along some food to share – vegetarian or vegan is preferred, and please label any allergens. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks to enjoy (alcohol is permitted). The organisers will be providing some nibbles and hot and cold drinks. We do not expect that alcohol will be a significant feature of the evening. More details here.

Demonstration outside the Royal Court of Justice on the first day a hearing against the Jet Zero strategy on the 1st of April 2025, Central London, United Kingdom. Climate charity Possible and the Group for Action on Leeds Bradford Airport are taking the UK government to court over its controversial Jet Zero Strategy (JZS), arguing that the policy encourages aviation expansion at the expense of legally binding climate commitments.
